Right on the heels of the launch of the iPhone 8, Google is kicking up the pressure on Apple with a new $1.1 billion deal with HTC. Rumors are already circulating that Google is looking to acquire HTC’s design and engineering team to help elevate its own hardware business.
The search giant has already gone toe-to-toe with Apple by releasing its well-rated Pixel phone. With this latest deal, we can only wonder how HTC’s expertise and depth of phone design experience will affect the next iteration of the Pixel.
The phone wars will keep getting hotter, and consumers are likely to be the winner as some of the world’s biggest tech companies race to develop better features. (Though the competition doesn’t seem to be depressing prices.) One thing is certain, whichever smartphone you choose, you’ll be getting a top-of-the-line flex circuit board inside!
